We are now looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to join our team and drive our commitment to a safe working environment.

Ngā Mahi | The Opportunity

The Health and Safety Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and stakeholders by managing Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) systems, conducting audits, and fostering a culture of safety within the organisation. This role will work closely with management to implement policies and monitor compliance. Although full time is ideal we are happy to offer part time for the right person.

Ngā Haepapa | Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish health and safety standards aligned with organisational goals and industry best practices.

  • Conduct regular risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement control measures.

  • Manage Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) systems for compliance and effectiveness.

  • Design and deliver health and safety training programs for employees at all levels.

  • Lead incident and near-miss reporting, analysis, and follow-up.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure health and safety compliance.

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation and fire safety procedures.

  • Communicate health and safety updates to employees and stakeholders and report to senior management.

  • Foster a positive safety culture and encourage employee involvement in health and safety matters.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in health and safety management.

  • Strong knowledge of WHS regulations and best practices.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train and engage employees at all levels.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and safety inspections.

Desirable:

  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications.

  • Previous experience in a construction or roading environment.
